Leigh Schelvis is a Solicitor at Woods Whur who assists our senior lawyers in all areas of the business. Originating from Australia, Leigh completed his legal training at a boutique commercial firm in Leeds, with his training largely focusing on dispute resolution. Prior to joining Woods Whur, Leigh worked at national and award winning firms, undertaking various types of contentious work.
Whilst completing law school, he funded himself by working at Leeds’ high-end cocktail bars for leading national and also independent operators. Leigh is a well-known personality in the Yorkshire leisure market and it is from this first-hand experience, where his passion and understanding of the leisure industry has flourished.
Since joining the firm in March 2018, Leigh has immersed himself in the firm’s case load, advising on Licensing Act 2003 applications, Gambling Act 2005 applications, The Smoke-free (Premises and Enforcement) Regulations 2006 and the newly implemented General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). As a recent addition to the firm Leigh has already been involved in some great results for our clients.
