Luke specialises in all forms of alcohol and entertainment licensing and has a wide range of experience having previously worked for a local authority in London. Luke is uniquely placed to advise clients from both sides of the fence and provides strategic and commercial advice helping clients to navigate the myriad of rules and regulations that apply to licensed premises. Luke qualified as a solicitor in 2012 and acts for a wealth of high-profile clients and premises in London and around the UK. Cumulative Impact – Luke persuaded Hackney council to grant a 24hr premises licence for an upmarket hotel, bar, and restaurant in one of its jealously guarded cumulative impact areas

Bars – Luke helped a new bar operator secure a late licence in Lewisham’s cumulative impact area

Hotels – On behalf of a well-known boutique hotel Luke was successful in obtaining a new 24hr premises licence despite objections

Restaurants – Luke assists an extremely popular London restaurant brand with all of their licensing applications and has secured new premises licences for their expansion in Westminster, Camden and Southwark

Members’ clubs – Luke obtained a new 24hr premises licence for a high profile members’ club in Mayfair

Festivals – On behalf of a well-known festival and events operator Luke secured a time limited premises licence for events in a council park

Reviews – Successful in defeating a police application for Summary Review following a pitched street battle that involved the use of swords outside a nightclub premises

Enforcement – Luke assisted the owner of an Airbnb property that was illegally used for parties during the national lockdown

Appeals – Instructed by an independent retailer who had seen his hours curtailed following a police application for review Luke was successful in appealing the council’s decision and having those hours restored.
